The Western New York Law Center has developed a unified timekeeping and intake made easy system (TIME)
that runs under windows. Although available for only a short period, TIME
is being used by Legal Services programs in throughout the country. The program collects client and case related
information quickly and easily, collects statistics required by the Legal Services
Corporation and by IOLA in New York State, and generates all required reports.
TIME
complies with LSC data gathering requirements. It warns users
who are saving a case if those requirements are not complied with. The program is user configurable, which eliminates the need to hire a programmer to
make changes in it, contains a pro bono component, including a referral selection
mechanism that allows users to search for an attorney based on the type of case they will
take, the court they will appear in, etc., provides conflict checks and client lookups at
the click of a mouse button, automatically generates letters from information that has
been entered once, and keeps track of calls to a program even when no case is opened.
TIME can run locally or as a client/server module over
a Wide Area Network or over the Internet. When it is running as a
client/server module, it allows remote users or offices to access the
program. Since the server does all of the processing of data, remote users
do not need fast connections to receive data. If you are interested in
accessing the database running on our Internet server to see how this works over
a WAN or the Internet, please contact us for the necessary files.
Our software uses the same database engine used by e-filing
systems developed for Federal Courts. It will handle over 1.75 million
case, client, or time activity records in the data files.
If you have questions about TIME please .
