EXEMPTIONS FROM WORK ACTIVITIES
For Single Adults and Childless Couples

Some welfare recipients do not have to perform work activities. If you fall into one ore more of the following categories, you may be granted an exemption from the Work Experience Program (WEP).


You may be exempt from the Work Experience Program if you are:

bd14580_.gif (185 bytes) Under Age 16

bd14580_.gif (185 bytes) Under age 19 and in school

bd14580_.gif (185 bytes) Physically or mentally ill or disabled

bd14580_.gif (185 bytes) Needed in the home to care for a household member who is mentally or physically ill or disabled, as verified by a doctor or psychologist

bd14580_.gif (185 bytes) 8 months pregnant (You will be exempt only for the last 30 days of your pregnancy. However, if your doctor provides a note that you are unable to work during your pregnancy and after giving birth, you may be exempted for a longer time period.)

NOTE

You will be asked to prove that you qualify for an exemption from work activities by providing written documentation to your Job Center/BEGIN/OES. See separate Fact Sheet No. 15, Proving Your Entitlement to an Exemption From The Work Requirements Because of Your Illness or Disability.
