Types of College Activities that May Count as Work Activities
If you have NO MINOR CHILDREN
If you are in a TWO-YEAR approved
vocational-oriented Associates Degree program:
You may count your class hours,
supervised study hall hours, and lab hours for up
to 12 months.
You may soon be able to count federal
internship and study hall hours.

If you are in a FOUR-YEAR Bachelors Degree program:
You may NOT count your class hours,
supervised study hall hours, and lab hours.
You may soon be able to count federal
work/study hours and/or internship hours.

If you are a SINGLE PARENT WITH MINOR CHILDREN
If you are in a TWO-YEAR approved vocational-oriented Associates Degree program:
You may count your class hours,
supervised study hall hours, and lab hours for up to
12 months. You may also count any federal
work/study and/or internship hours that
are related to achieving employment.
If you are in a FOUR-YEAR Bachelors Degree program:
You may NOT count your class hours,
supervised study hall hours, and lab hours.
You may soon be able to count any federal
work/study hours and/or internship hours.

Your Rights Concerning Your Preferences
For the Type and Location of a WEP Assignment
If you are a SINGLE PARENT WITH MINOR CHILDREN
If you are a single parent with minor children in your household:
You
have a right to an "Employability Assessment and Employment Plan."
You and your worker
must fill out this plan and both of you must sign it before you
can be assigned a WEP
job.
You are
entitled to your job preference, to the extent possible. Therefore, you can
check the box
"Other" and write in "WEP is not my preference."
If you attend a CUNY or SUNY college and have a C average or better:
You are entitled to a WEP assignment that is
on or near your campus, if available;
and you are entitled to
a WEP assignment that does not conflict with your class schedule.
